Situated in beautiful Onehunga, Element Design is a boutique design firm based in a converted power sub-station which is really cool.
Shane began his career at Zealandia Newspaper (weekly tabloid Catholic Newspaper) in 1988 followed by Kirby Advertising Agency in 1989 and in 1993 established Element Design Ltd. Shane currently focuses on PoS and packaging work and has also worked on many magazines as Art Director including NZ Business, AdMedia, Zealandia, Pharmacy Today, SeaSpray NZ & Australia, Asthma Today, NZ Memories, IT-Brief and Employment Review Australia. Shane has redesigned Onfilm, Forestry, Management, Pharmacy Today (twice) and Hooked On Boars. Shane has extensive knowledge in all areas of the design industry with over 23 years experience. He is integral to ensuring excellence in all areas of the design work that Element creates. His passion, motivation and skills takes his work to the next level. Shane takes great pride in his own visual design and likes to push the boundaries of traditional design practice, resulting in outstanding creations. When not designing he is obsessing about Joomla (web CMS) and karate (he is currently graded to Nidan) and spends quality time in his man room gaming. He also has a passion for sculpture, welding and also a thing for chairs, industrial design and Monique.
Monique began her career at Onfilm magazine in 1993 and specialises in magazine design and production. She became employed full-time at Element in 2006. She has worked as Art Director on numerous titles including Admedia, NZ Doctor, NZ NetGuide, SeaSpray NZ & Australia, NZ Memories, Sport Unleashed, Eye Magazine, Beautiful You, Let’s Travel, My Wedding, Hooked On Boars and Tourism Business. Monique won the Magazine Designer of the Year Award in the Consumer category of the Magazine Publishing Awards in 2002, Magazine of the Year 2002, Best Magazine Cover 2000, Magazine of the Year (Special Interest) 2005 and Finalist Best Magazine Designer 2005 all for NetGuide Magazine. When not designing she loves to listen to heavy metal, will read or watch anything about architecture and has a thing for chairs and industrial design.
Shane and Monique also work with a network of trusted freelance contractors to ensure they can meet client demands.
